TENASSERIM-PEGU: Anonymous, 17th-18th century, large tin coin, cast (86.39g), Robinson-, 73mm, knotted dragon right with long protruding pointed tongue, 6-point rosette below with horizontal center, pellets along his neck // different 3-line Burmese legend, still undeciphered (except the bottom line, which is 361 ma), unpublished & extremely rare, superb bold casting, EF to About Unc, RRR. Differs from Robinson Plate 9.1 by the rosette and the previously unknown Burmese legend. The examples of this new type are the heaviest group thus far reported, weighing 77g to 86g. The meaning of "361" remains mysterious, as it does not fit with any of the Burmese calendars then in use. This is the fifth known example, the other 4 all appeared in our Auction 35, Lots 1860-1863.

Estimate: 350-500 USD
