SUYAB: Anonymous, 7th/8th century, AE cash (3.6g), Kamishev-20, Zeno-245252 (this example), bust 3/4 left, with long earrings; Sogdian bgy (vaghi) "lord" to the left and prn (farn) "glory" to the right, Fine to VF, RR. This is the first example we have had of the rare Suyab series. Suyab was a quasi-independent city within the Semirech'e territories and a one-time military outpost of the Tang Dynasty. The great Chinese poet, Li Bai (Li Po), was born in 701 in the city according to many accounts.
