THAI KINGDOMS: AR tok chiangmai (65.84g), Opitz-pg. 354, Krisadaolarn/Mihailovs-pg. 65, silver Chiangmai "Oyster" Tok coinage cast in the 17th-18th centuries by the Lanna Kingdom, VF, ex Charles Opitz Collection. The Chiang Mai Tok was usually found with a blackened top while the underside was yellowish brown caused by the chemical reaction of the silver alloy supposedly by mixing with egg yolk or chicken blood during the casting process.
