RUBBER STAMP CO. // RHYOLITE, / NEV. / IN THE HEART OF THE / BULLFROG / DISTRICT; bullfrog facing, with his heart left of the town name, minor discoloration on the reverse, appears to be unpublished and possibly unique, choice EF, couple minor stains, RRR. Rhyolite was a gold mining town founded in 1905, achieving a population of at least 4,000 by the end of 1906, but the ore quickly dissipated. The principal mine, owned by Charles M. Schwab, fell into financial loss and closed permanently in 1911. Nearly all businesses closed or moved away during the next few years, and the last resident passed away in 1922. Frank Sieglitz was born in 1857, and became a jeweler, established in Globe, Arizona. When he heard of the mining boom in Nevada, he moved from Globe to Nevada, establishing his jewelry business in Rhyolite, but at some time soon after left the soon-to-be ghost town, to nearby Goldfield, Nevada, where he is listed in the Census records of 1910. By 1920 and 1930 he is listed as a resident in Calexico, California, still listed as a jeweler. He died in 1937 and was buried at Yuma, Arizona.
