CIVIC COPPER: AE falus (11.15g), Iran, AH1273, A-B3236, lion couchant, sun behind, all within wreath, VF, ex Jim Farr Collection. The mint name is given as mamalek-e mahruse-ye iran, "the protected kingdoms of Iran", probably struck exclusively at Tehran. These coins represented a series of only partially successful attempts to introduce a uniform copper coinage throughout the Qajar lands.
