GREAT MONGOLS: temp. Ögedei, 1227-1241, AV dinar (3.67g), Almaligh, DM, A-3738A, citing the Qa'an and the deceased caliph al-Nasir li-Din Allah, mint name fully clear atop the reverse field, about 25% flat strike, EF, RRR. The attribution of Ögedei is confirmed by Almaligh dinars dated 6x1 (for 631, Zeno-34942) and 63(4 or 7, Zeno-44047), all of identical style, but different sets of dies. Since Chaghatay was appointed to the east region, with his center at Almaligh (now in the northwest corner of Xinjiang, China), this type can also be assigned to Chaghatay, though his normal coinage (also anonymous) did not appear until at least 635 for gold and in 638 for silver.
