CENTRAL EUROPEAN CELTS. The Eravisci. Ansali. First century BC. Silver denarius (3.25 gm). Bearded male head right, wearing torc / ANSALI, horseman galloping left, holding round shield. Freeman 19/R (plate 29, 26; same dies). CCCBM I 265. Forrer 227. Very rare and the most idiosyncratic of all of the Eraviscan types. Toned. Nearly extremely fine
The reverse inscription ANSALI is probably the name of a local Celtic chieftain and his torc-adorned portrait is perhaps depicted on the obverse.
