ROMAN REPUBLIC. Quadrigatus. Circa 216-215 BC. Silver didrachm (6.32 gm). Laureate head of Janus with slightly curving neck truncation, two annulets at top of head partially obscured by hair, dotted border / Jupiter standing in quadriga driven by Victory right, wielding thunderbolt and holding lotus-tipped scepter, ROMA incuse and partially in relief on raised rectangular tablet below, linear border. RSC 23a. Cf. Sydenham 64c (indented neck truncation, trapezoidal tablet). Lightly toned. Nearly extremely fine
