Danelaw, in the name of Alfred (c. 890-900), Penny, in the style of the 'London Monogram', type A1, 1.21g, 8h, ÆLFR-ER-D EX, diademed bust right, rev. 'LONDONIA Monogram', L inverted, A without bar, cross of five pellets above, quatrefoil below (MacKay, Danelaw, dies 6 (O6/R6), coin 6.1, plates 63; N.463; Spink 964), flan crack at 7 o'clock to neck line, subsequently repaired on obverse, 'peck marks' across a full and toned flan, very fine, rare.
