William and Mary (1688-1694), Two-Guineas, 1694 over 3, conjoined laureate busts right, rev. crowned garnished shield, edge obliquely milled, 16.69g, 7h (Murdoch II, 722; King - [cf. 131]; cf. Spink 166, lot 23, same obverse die (note weakness); Schneider II, 463/464; MCE 146; Spink 3424), a dazzling coin with glorious proof-like brilliance in fields, save only for imperfect striking to edges at 3 and 9 o'clock the result of die breaks, much as struck with spectacular eye appeal, very rare so choice.
