(Jacquoit III, p.433, première médaille), obverse shows signs of a breaking die, but a choice early striking and edge without poinçon, extremely fine
The Place des Victoires (later and still the Place Vendôme) was designed by Hardouin-Mansart. The statue was destroyed in 1792.
