The temple of Zeus at Olympia was constructed 472 – 456 BC, it was a classical Greek temple in the Doric order. The temple was home to the Chryselephantine statue created by Phidias to honour the deity. The statue is known for being one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The colossal statue measured 14 metres tall and the temple was built to house this great feat of ancient craftsmanship.
