JUDAEA, Neapolis. Macrinus. AD 217-218. AR Tetradrachm (26.5mm, 11.00 g, 12h). Struck AD 215-217. Laureate head right, slight drapery / Temple complex atop Mt. Gerizim; all within beaded border supported by eagle standing facing, head and tail left, with wings spread. Bland, Hoards, p. 20, 72 = Prieur 1711 (this coin); Sofaer –; Emporium Hamburg 84, lot 248 (same dies); CNG E-445, lot 383 (same dies). Lightly toned, light porosity. . The fourth known, with the Bland coin the only one noted by Prieur, and two others in CoinArchives (Emporium Hamburg 84, lot 248 and CNG E-445, lot 383).
