ANGLO-SAXON, Kings of All England. Cnut. 1016-1035. AR Penny (18mm, 1.03 g, 3h). Pointed Helmet type (BMC xiv, Hild. G). London mint; Ælfwig, moneyer. Struck circa 1023-1029. Bust left, wearing pointed helmet; trefoil-tipped scepter before / + ÆL•FPIG ON LV(ND)E, voided short cross, limbs united at base by two concentric circles with pellet in center; in each angle, broken annulet enclosing pellet. SCBI 14 (Copenhagen), 264 (same dies); North 787; SCBC 1158. Old cabinet toning, slightly wavy flan, stress crack, peck marks. VF.
