KOREA. Choson Dynasty. Openwork "Tang Dynasty Flower" Chatelaine, ND (ca. 19th Century). VERY FINE.
143.71 x 117.64 mm Mandel-105.2; KCY-I-33; Hartill-1004. Symmetrical openwork floral filigree design flanked by inward facing dragons with much of the red, blue, green and gold pigment still intact. Attached are thirteen silk streamers of different colors with a mixture of charms (12), Seed coins (14) and cast Mun (39) woven together, none of the attached pieces display any pigment. The silk streamers are quite fragile with some showing signs of age and deterioration. Close personal inspection is advised and will reward the diligent bidder. A handsome example of this seldom encountered wedding gift with much originality sure to see spirited bidding from many collectors.
