(t) CHINA. Republic of China. Yunnan Yuanbao. Provincial Large Ingots. Silver 50 Tael Local Tax Ingot, ND (ca. 1912-49). Graded "XF" by Zhong Qian Ping Ji Grading Company.
cf. BMC-Class IX. Weight: 1770.8 gms. "Min Guo Yuan Bao" (Made in the Republic) stamped twice near the waist. "Shi Zu Wen Yin" (guarantee or fineness) stamped three times, one stamped across another left side and one to the right. "Ji Xiang Ma Ji" (Jixiangma bank) stamped across one of the fineness stamps on the right side. Six additional geometrical shaped stamps on the face, one "large" and five "small". The fineness and bank stamps are deeply impressed giving good definition of the characters making identification easy. The Republican stamps are slightly uneven with portions of the characters not struck up. A very interesting and attractive issue presumably made during the early years of the Republic encountered far less often then earlier 50 Taels and should be considered VERY RARE, sure to catch the attention of even the most advanced collector of Chinese ingots.

Estimate: $12000.00- $17000.00
