CHINA. Gold Presentation Dollar, Year 10 (1921). Tientsin Mint. NGC MS-62.
L&M-1093; K-1570; WS-0067; Wenchao-pg. 78#40 (rarity four stars). Reeded Edge variety. Obverse: President Hsu Shih Chang in formal attire; Reverse: Pavilion at Peking Union Medical College Hospital with legend at the bottom. A stunning example of this RARE off-metal presentation striking in gold, endowed with pinpoint detail in the artful designs and glowing brilliance in the reflective fields. Upon concentrated inspection, a touch of wispy handling and a few inconspicuous marks are seen, although no instance is out of line with the grade. Numerous lint marks (most notably in the field to the left of Hsu Shih-chang's bust) are observed as well, which signals die polishing directly prior to strike. Altogether, a lovely example of this important numismatic item that is sure to generate significant excitement, as it is the first example in gold that we have sold in over six years!
