(t) CHINA. Copper Cent Pattern, Year 5 (1916). Tientsin Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-64 Red Brown Gold Shield.
CL-MG.54; KM-Pn-41; CCC-680; Duan-3224. Signed by L. Giorgi. The finest of just seven graded by PCGS, this EXTREMELY RARE 1916 pattern is signed by the illustrious Luigi Giorgi. Long considered a great rarity, this type is missing from most major collections, including that of Jacobs and Kann. It was produced by Giorgi at the Tientsin Mint, with his name appearing near the reverse periphery just to the right of 6. The current offering of this immensely popular pattern exhibits a razor sharp strike, gorgeous original surfaces, and an abundance of mint red in virtually every portion of the field. It is certainly worth a strong bid, as near Gem quality specimens are few and far between. Compare to a specimen previously offered in our 2014 August Hong Kong auction--merely an NGC MS-63 Brown--which realized a total of $83,650 (lot 41106).

Estimate: $40000.00- $50000.00
