China, Yunnan Province. Tientsin. Provincial Authority of Yunnan and/or Republic of China. 1875-1908 and/or 1911-1949. "7 Mace & 2 Candareens" / Tael / Dollar". "Dragon Dollar". Yunnan Mint. Kuang-shu Tong-pao (inner) / Yun-nan Sheng-tsao (outer), Denticled rim around an outer concentric ring in which are 4 characters at top / 6 characters at bottom. Within: a dotted circular inner border in which are 4 large Chinese characters at the cardinal points with 4 tiny Manchu characters in the center. rosette stops at 9:00 & 3:00 / none, Denticled rim around a dotted inner border containing no legend. Within: "Side-view dragon" facing; below chin, fireball with 7 flames; rosette stops at 9:00 & 3:00 . Y 258. Choice VF for type, Light original (untouched) patina.

These were struck between 1875-1908 under the final dynastic ruler. The dies were re-purposed ca. 1911 and identical coins were struck until ca. 1949 under the fledgling Republic of China, the fineness of the silver was reduced several times during that period
