Cuba - 20 Pesos 1915, Gold Head of Marti right. Rev. arms within wreath.Fr. 1; KM 21.Cuba's first circulating coinage was created in 1915 during the Presidency of Mario García Menocal. This very desirable proof issue was minted in the U.S.A. at the Philadelphia Mint, on the same weight standard and fineness of the contemporary $20 gold coin, as the Cuban Peso was at par with the U.S. Dollar. The coins were designed by Chief Engraver Charles Edward Barber. It is estimated that less than a few dozen proof 20 pesos were minted, with some sources suggesting a much smaller number. This type was only minted for two years, in 1915 and 1916. A coin of this high quality with a great amount of potential is seldom offered for sale and we expect the value of this coin to continue to rise for years to come given the current developments in the relationship between the U.S.A. and Cuba.PCGS PR62 CAM
