Rev. crowned arms divides value within order chain.Cal. 164; Cayón 17175; KM. 579.1.Known by her unfortunate sobriquet as 'She of the Sad Destinies' Queen Isabell II's reign would be marked by internal political conflicts, palace intrigue, conspiracies, and military rebellion. In the beginning of her reign it was the Moderate Party that would shape her country the most, instilling reforms that would strengthen the monarchy and wishing to establish a centralized government and economic liberalism. However the public became increasingly aware of the massive government corruption, leading to a coup attempt known as the Vicalvarada after which the Progressive Party attempted to carry out their reforms. What followed was a period in which efforts of the Liberal Union government to find a balance between the two parties. Her nature to waver between the liberals and conservatives frustrated the moderates, the progressives and the Liberal Union, ultimately being the source of the La Gloriosa, the revolution leading to her deposition and the start of the Sexenio Democrático.

Recognized by the literature as very rare, this piece was struck during the last years of the First Carlist War. Displaying a slightly weaker strike in the portrait, coupled with some wear resulting in a flatness on the higher points. The reverse, in contrast, possesses slight rub on the higher points but a sharpness alike an uncirculated piece.
