British India, 1948, King George VI, 100 Rupees, Karachi Circle, Signed by C.D. Deshmukh, Government of Pakistan Issue, Overprint - "Government of Pakistan" in English and Urdu in Green, B Prefix, S. No. B55 177396, (KJ &RR # 5.21.1), holes, folds, graffiti, minor stains, choice very fine, Exceedingly Rare.



Note: These banknotes, which were in circulation for a very short time, were issued in April 1948 to meet immediate requirements of a newly formed country and were later demonetized in 1949. "Government of Pakistan" is overprinted over watermark with the Urdu text "Hukumat-e-Pakistan" at the bottom. There is a vignette of King George VI's portrait vignette at the right and a watermark on the left. The reverse of the note displays a roaring tiger's head. This note was issued when Pakistan separated from British India to form the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. It is a generally attractive and choice type with vivid colours making it sought after among collectors.
