ISLANDS OFF IONIA, Chios. Circa 435-425 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 17 mm, 7.94 g). Sphinx with curved wings seated to left; to left, grape bunch above amphora; all set on circular convex field. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Baldwin 44. Mavrogordato 22. SNG Lockett 2858. Darkly toned. The obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.
