CILICIA. Tarsos. Balakros, satrap of Cilicia, 333-323 BC. Stater (Silver, 24 mm, 11.00 g, 3 h). Baaltars seated left on backless throne, holding lotus-tipped scepter in his right hand and resting his left on his chlamys at his waist; to outer left, grain ear and grape bunch; to right, B above ivy leaf; below throne, T. Rev. Draped bust of Athena facing slightly to left, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet, pendant earring and pearl necklace. Casabonne series 2. SNG Levante -, cf. 121 (additional reverse symbol). SNG Paris 367-369. An attractive, fresh and clear example. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die, otherwise, virtually as struck.
