Head of Demeter to left, wearing pendant earring and pearl necklace and with her hair bound by an ampyx in the front and a sphendone ornamented with stars in the back; on neck truncation, APIΣTO; behind, stalk of barley. Rev. META Ear of barley with six grains and leaf to left. Basel 140 (this coin). HN Italy 1521 corr. (no symbol on reverse). Noe 435 (same dies). SNG ANS 333 (same dies). Beautifully toned and in exceptional condition for this important issue, with an unusually clear signature of the master engraver Aristoxenos. The reverse a bit weak, otherwise, good very fine.
