MACEDON. Akanthos. Circa 470-430 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.86 g, 6 h). Lion to right, attacking a bull collapsing to left; in exergue, tunny swimming to left. Rev. AKA-N-ΘIO-N Raised quadripartite square surrounded by inscription; all within shallow incuse square. AMNG III, 2, 21. Desneux -. Leu 83 (2002), 162 corr. (same dies, but reverse die not R92). Triton XX (2017), 99 (same dies). A beautiful coin of unusually naturalistic style. Very light porosity, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
