KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.33 g, 3 h), Abydos, struck under Kalas or Demarchos, 325-323. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; Hermes standing left, wearing petasos and holding caduceus in his right hand; below throne, Ξ. Price 1502. Rare and with a lovely reverse symbol. Extremely fine.
