SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos VII Euergetes (Sidetes), 138-129 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 16.68 g, 12 h), Damaskos, SE 178 = 135/4. Diademed head of Antiochos VII to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟY - EYEPΓETOY Athena standing front, head to left, holding Nike in her right hand and resting her left on shield decorated with gorgoneion and set on ground; behind, spear; to left, ΛE above monogram; in exergue, HOP; all within laurel wreath. SC 2096.3. Bright and attractive. Very light doubling on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
