KUSHANO-SASANIANS. Peroz I, circa 250-265. Dinar (Gold, 28 mm, 7.88 g, 12 h), Balkh or Kabul. 'pirozo oaraurano oazorko košano šauo' ('His Majesty, Peroz, Great King of the Kushan' in Bactrian) Peroz I standing front, head to left, wearing a crown with a lion's head and holding trident in his left hand and sacrificing over altar with his right; in field to left, trident; to right, tamgha. Rev. Shiva standing facing, holding diadem in his right hand and trident in his left; behind, the bull Nandi, his companion, standing left. ANS Kushan 2157 (this coin, enlarged on pl. 76). Cribb, Kidarites, pl. 2, 2. Lightly toned and very attractive. Extremely fine.
