ETOYΣ ΔΛΣ / ΔHMOΣION / HMIMNAI[O]N Two crossed cornucopiae with crown of Isis between. Rev. Latticework design. CPAI -. Cf. Pondera 3566 (SE 211) and 1617 (SE 234, but 1 Mna). Apparently unpublished. Somewhat rough, otherwise, very fine.


Commercial weights such as this one were produced in cities currently or formerly under Seleukid control, where they were, as indicated by the obverse inscription ΔHMOΣION ('public'), used as official market weights. The weight of 343 g for a Hemimnaion corresponds to a Mina of 150 Attic drachms.
