PTOLEMY I, king 305-283 BC. Stater, gold, struck in Euhesperides (Cyrenaica), about 300-295. AV 7.16 g. Head r., wearing royal diadem, aegis around neck. Rev. ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ Alexander the Great, standing l. in an elephant quadriga, wearing aegis over his l. shoulder, holding reins with his l. hand, thunderbolt in his raised r. hand; in exergue, apple branch l.
