L. Aemilius Lepidus Paullus, 62 BC. Denarius. AR 3.73 g. Female head r. (Venus ?), wearing diadem and laurel wreath, hair in a knot at the back of the head, locks falling down neck. Rev. Equestrian statue of M. Aemilius Lepidus (consul 187 BC.) r., wearing a trophy over his l. shoulder; in field, AN-XV PR - H.O.C.S (annorum XV progressus hostem occidit civem servavit), in exergue, M.LEPIDVS. Cr. 419/1b; Syd. 830a.
Rare. Large flan. Nice old tone. Extremely fine

The abbreviated insription on the reverse is in connection to the statue of Lepidus erected to him for an act of bravery during the Second Punic War.
