CAULONIA. Nomos, about 525 - 500 BC. AR 8.32 g. KAV1[1 retrograd] Apollo, nude, advancing r., holding branch in his raised r. hand, on his extended l. arm, small, nude figure running r., head turned l., holding branch in each hand; in front, stag standing r. on dotted ground line, head turned l.; all within cable border. Rev. Same as on obv., but to l. and incuse, some details in outline; all within dentate border. Noe, C. 22, 5 (same obv. die); SNG ANS 142 (same obv. die) ; SNG München 1396 (same obv. die).
Scarce. Excellent late archaic style. Attractive old tone.
Some insignificant weakness, otherwise extremely fine
