Great Britain » England 1555. Philip and Mary: (Ag) Hammered Silver Shilling (S 2501): Obverse; Busts of Philip and Mary face-to-face, above the crown and date. 'PHILIP ET MARIA DG REX ET REGINA ANGL'. Reverse: Crowned and garnished Royal Arms (of Spain and England), 'X II' below crown (12 pence), ''POSVIMVS DEVM AUDIVTOREM NOSTRVM'. Both faces and dress details are well struck and all legends are clear. Superb double portrait of Philip and Mary - usually one or other of the portraits is a bit weak, but both of these are strong and although there is a little wear, all the main details are clearly visible, thus rare.
