A Jeton for the steam folk kitchen built by J F Johansen & Co. in Studiestræde no. 88. Folk kitchens such as this had the task of providing nutritious and cheap food to the poorest part of the population. The idea for these kitchens came from the Count of Rumford, Benjamin Thompson, who in the late 18th century gave instructions on the preparation of cheap food.
