Constantine I BI Nummus. Rome, AD 316. IMP CONSTANTINVS P F AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right / SOLI INVICT COM D N, radiate Sol standing facing, head left and chlamys over shoulder, raising right hand and holding Victory on globe in left; star in left field, crescent in right field, RS in exergue. RIC 49. 3.61g, 20mm, 6h.

Near Extremely Fine; some corrosion to rev. Very Rare.

From a private North American collection.

On this rare and unusual reverse we see an exceptional depiction of Sol, who holds a Victory on globe as opposed to simply a globe, while he is termed not just "Companion", but "Companion of Our Lord" in the reverse legend.
