St. Demetrius standing facing, holding a spear with right hand and resting left on shield set on ground; O A ΓΙ [...] in four or five lines to left, illegible inscription to right; all within border of dots / CЄBACTON H[Δ]H[S]ΔOMЄC IKONMΓ(MΓ ligate)AΛЄΞI ONNV[NTONKO] MNH[NONΔЄI] •K[NVѠ]•, dodecasyllabic metrical inscription in six lines; ornament with cross above; all within border of dots. This seal dates from the years AD 1078-1081, during the reign of Nicephorus III Botaneiates, when Alexius Comnenus is attested to have held the office of grand domestic and with the title of sebastos.
