Commonwealth (1649-60), 'Fine Work' Shilling, 1652, 5.69g, 12h, m.m. sun, reads COMMON.WEALTH, the T re-entered over a higher off-set T, and no stop after ENGLAND (Tisbury III, lot 406, same dies; ESC 110 [986G ~ R3]; N.2724; S.3217), traces of solder to peripheries where once ring mounted for presentation purposes, and with hints of past-cleaning otherwise very fine and very rare, this being a die duplicate of the price record-setting Tisbury example that was also struck on an atypically neat and round planchet with medallic die alignment, which is entirely consistent with 'fine work' strikings of the period.

Estimate: £500 - £800
