Jason of Pherai had gained control over Thessaly but was murdered in 370 BC. He was succeeded by his nephew and son-in-law Alexandros of Pherai as a tyrant. His cousin and wife Thebe, soon persuaded their stepbrothers Teisiphonos and Lykrophon to murder her husband. Teisiphonus was the first to succeed Alexandros, but died in c. 355BC, while his brother ruled until the conquest of Thessaly by Philip II of Macedonia in 352 BC.
