Japan WW2 Imperial Japanese Army Type 95 Shin Gunto sword for non-commissioned officers. Cast aluminium tsuka (hilt) with a thick ornate brass tsuba (guard). The fuchi is copper & the sword is secured in the scabbard by a top latch, all of which identifies it as being a third pattern sword dating to around 1938 ? mid 1941. The machine made blade is in good condition consistent with its age and use. It also is stamped with a serial number. The cast aluminium tsuka (hilt) retains only very little of its original paint ? testifying to its use and service. Complete with a brown leather Warrant Officer pattern sword knot. The steel scabbard is in heavily toned & in aged condition but free from dents. The serial number on the throat of the scabbard does match that of the blade.
