RIC-10a; RSC-40. Obverse: Laureate head right; Reverse: Providentia standing left, raising hands toward star to upper left. One of the more difficult emperors to acquire given his short reign, Pertinax was part of the chaos following the death of Commodus on the last day on A.D. 192. Lightly toned and rather well struck for the type on a flan of good metal.
