Derbyshire 3 (Scarce). Buxton. Copper halfpenny. 11.49 gm. 29 mm. Waters "About 200" struck. 1796. Arms of the Duke of Devonshire, crown and serpent above / Semicircular row of buildings; CRESCENT 1796 below. Edge: BUXTON TOKEN; lightly engrailed. Uncirculated; brown; flan a bit wedge-like–thicker at right than at left; slight bulge at 9' obverse that appears to be an artifact of the strike; slight spot at nose of the left stag; choice reddish brown tone over fresh surfaces.
