Sometimes called Goertz dalers, after the Swedish banker who made this effort to provide a currency for a Sweden that had adopted copper as its currency base when silver had fled to other countries. These were issued to represent the daler, though the metallic value was much less. The money was not popular and neither was Baron de Goertz, whose ultimate fate for the failure of such funds was to be beheaded.
