M. Junius Brutus. AR Denarius, 54 BC. LIBERTA (sic). Head of Libertas right. / The consul L. Junius Brutus the Ancient walking left, between two lictors preceded by an accensus; in exergue, BRVTVS. Cr. 433/1 var. (LIBERTAS); B. 31 var. (same). AR. 3.98 g. 20.00 mm. RR. A very rare variety, apparently unpublished. An attractive example, well centred on a broad flan of full weight. Lovely light iridescent tone. Good VF.
The two dots made by the engraver in the obverse die to describe the missing S are dissimulated by the back hair of Libertas, which falls down from her neck.
