CILICIA. Kelenderis. Circa 450 BC. Stater (Silver, 20 mm, 10.82 g, 9 h). ΚΕΛΕΝ Nude ephebe, holding whip in his left hand, jumping from horse galloping to left (performing the kalpé, a horse race in which the rider jumps from his horse and runs beside it). Rev. Forepart of goat kneeling to left, within dotted border. Cf. SNG Levante 16 = SNG Paris 43 (but with the ethnic on the reverse rather than obverse as here). Rare. Toned and very well-centered. Nearly extremely fine.
