SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos II Theos, 261-246 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.34 g, 12 h), Alinda or Mylasa in Caria. Diademed head of Antiochus II to right. Rev. [BAΣIΛEΩΣ] ANTIOXOY Apollo, laureate and with drapery over his shoulders, seated on omphalos to left, holding bow in his right hand and resting his left hand on the omphalos; to left, monogram of ΜΕ over a double-headed axe. Cf. SC 552.2 = SNG Spaer 369-370 (with the axe, but a differing monogram). Extremely rare, apparently unpublished. With a good portrait and a very sharply struck reverse. Obverse struck from a slightly worn die and reverse slightly off-center, otherwise, about extremely fine.
