PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy III Euergetes, 246-222 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 13.96 g, 11 h), Aenus, Thrace. Diademed head of Ptolemy III Euergetes to right. Rev. Eagle with closed wings standing on thunderbolt to left; in the field to left, simple herm on base; in the field to right, monogram of ΗΑ (?). CPE 754A = Svoronos 932β (but there monogram uncertain). Cf. CPE 757 (very similar if not the same reverse monogram). Very rare. An exceptional example of a Ptolemaic tetradrachm bearing a real ruler portrait rather than that of Ptolemy I. Clear and well-struck. Good very fine.
