Gordian II, AD 238. Denarius (Silver, 22 mm, 3.26 g, 4 h), Rome. IMP M ANT GORDIANVS AFR AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian II to right. Rev. PROVIDENTIA AVGG Providentia standing facing, head to left, leaning on low column to right and holding a wand in her right hand and a cornucopia with her left; to left, at her feet, globe. BMC 19. Cohen 5. RIC 1. Attractive, clear, nicely toned and struck on a broad flan. Minor pitting and scrapes, otherwise, extremely fine.
