Great Britain
George I gold "Prince Elector" Guinea 1714 AU53 PCGS, KM538, S-3628. The first Guinea to be struck during George I's reign bearing perhaps the most highly commended portrait of this Hanoverian King, dubbed the 'Prince Elector' type for its inclusion of PR. EL. at the end of the King's titles to denote his status as Elector of the Holy Roman Empire. Commendably struck, with a broad rim that takes on a particular boldness and framing effect to the reverse. The surfaces retain a large degree of bright mint luster, which flashes at the viewer upon rotation and inspection, a gratifying honey-amber tone settled gently over the fields and intensifying ever so slightly against the devices.
