George IV gold Proof Pattern 2 Pounds 1825 PR62 Cameo PCGS, KM-Pn91, S-3799, W&R-225 (R6). Plain edge. Exceedingly rare, and one of only two specimens certified by PCGS to date, both graded PR62, yet this example taking the ultimate prize with its "Cameo" designation. Wilson and Rasmussen assign this type a rarity rating of R6, indicating 3 to 5 specimens known, and though a few more than this apparently exist the number may not be far off, placing the offering within an elite tier of rarity and interest in the British series. Gentle hairlines from handling reside in the fields, yet remain so light as to retain full and unobstructed mirror reflectivity in the open expanses.
